The "Roman Road" to salvation is a way of explaining the good news of salvation using verses from the Book of Romans. It is a simple yet powerful method of explaining why the world needs salvation, how God provides it, and how we can secure it
Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Everybody is a sinner. There is no one who can claim to be righteous enough to go to Heaven on their own.
Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; ..."
Not being righteous comes with a penalty. That sentence is death. Not just physical death, but eternal spiritual death.
Romans 6:23 cont. "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Salvation is a gift, and what a precious one it is. You cannot earn this gift. It is given freely by a loving God.
Romans 5:8 declares, "But God commendth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
While we were still sinners, Christ came to us. He didn't wait until we "showed potential" or "made improvements". We were hopeless. So God sent his only son to die on a cross for us.
Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Salvation is as simple as believing and responding to call of the Holy Spirit. We must confess our sins before God and accept Christ's sacrifice for that Sin. Some people are looking for a savior (to forgive them) but they're not interested in a Lord. Jesus will not be half of what you need. He must be both Lord and Savior.
Romans 8:1 -- "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
Once we are saved, we are justified. The blood of Christ assures that there is no condemnation for us. We can boldly claim Christ's righteousness as our own.
Romans 8:38-39 -- "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Salvation is eternal. We can NEVER be separated from the love of God. This is God's blessed assurance.
